Armen Willard "Willie" Griess, was born to Julian Griess and Clara Rauscher, the youngest of 8 children. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at age 17 and at age 19 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. After a 22 year career in the Navy, he retired and worked for the city of Garden Grove, CA, for 17 years in the Parks and Recreation Dept. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Odell Evelyn Shea; his son, Mark (Mary); Odell's children, Michael, Patricia, and Terrance Shea, and 11 grandchildren. Interment was held at Riverside National Cemetery on December 28, 2006. (Published in the Orange County Register Dec 29, 2006)
