Funeral services were held last Thursday from the Davis mortuary for Rudolph Schamber, well known resident of Pavillion.
Rudolph Schamber was born in Russia January 20, 1865, the son of Adam Schamber. In infancy he was baptized and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith, a trust he kept faithfully during his entire lifetime. In 1884 he married Dorothy nee Knittle. This union was blessed with 16 children, 11 of whom are still living. In 1886 the deceased, with his wife and to children immigrated to this country settling on a farm at Freeman, S.D. Thirteen years later he moved to Butte, Nebr. in the same year he received his citizenship papers and homesteaded near Butte. in 1907 he moved with his family to Gregory, S. D. and after 15 years, to Stamford, S.D. In the fall of 1935 he went to eastern Wyoming, where he lived for a year with his son, Pete. Then in the fall of 1936 he came to the neighborhood of Pavillion, where he lived with his sons, John and Albert. A year ago this spring he purchased a plot of ground in the town of Pavillion and lived there until the time of his death.
The deceased was always loyal to the faith in which he had been reared from infancy. In the various places in which he had made his home he was always an active member of the church, serving as elder to most of the congregations to which he belonged. He frequently conducted reading serves in the absence of the pastor. He helped in the erection and remodeling of three different church buildings and was an ardent supporter of the church's work.
He leaves to mourn his departure 11 children, they are: Rudolf, Jr. of Stamford of Scotland,, S.D. Pete of Henry, Nebraska, Jake of Stamford. S.D. John of Riverton, Wym. Fred and Albert of Pavillion, Wym. Mrs. August Intorn of Colome, S.D. Mrs. Sam Manke of Stamford., S. D. Mrs. E. Steinke of Winner, S.D. There is one brother, Christ of Lodi, Calif .and there are 85 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. His wife and 5 children proceeded him in death,
