Norman Woodruff, 37, Dies with Hemmorrage
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in the Presbyterian Church in Miller for Norman R. Woodruff, 37, who suffered a cerebral hemmorrage at his home Friday evening. Woodruff had worked at his usual duties with a Miller oil company during the day, and after returning home appeared to be in his good health until he suffered the fatal attack.
Rev. Montignani conducted the services and burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miller. Pallbearers were J. C. Terry, Joe Schlichte, James Barretty, Jasper Shaw, Louis Eaton and Larry Kuestermeyer.
A life-time resident of Hand county, Woodruff was born in Rose Hill township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman A. Woodruff. He was reared in that area and was married to Verbena Bitterman April 10, 1945. He was engaged in farming in Rose Hill until moving to Miller about seven years ago.
Woodruff enlisted in the navy in September 1942, and served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of War until his honorable discharge in October 1945.
He was a member of the Miller Presbyterian Church and of Ree Valley Lodge, IOOF.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Rodney, 13, and Charles, 10, one daughter, Janice, 7; his mohter; three brothers: Joy and Gene, Idaho and Victor, Wessington; and three sisters, Mrs.Gladys Bell, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Betty Patridge, San Mateo, Calif., and Mrs. Arlene Smith, Springfield, Va. He was preceded in death by his father, November 21, 1959.
