Edna B. Hines, 76, of Grand Island, died Friday, March 18, 2005 at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Worms, Nebraska. Pastor Stan Molyneux will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be at the Kleine Funeral Home on Monday, March 21, from 3 - 8 pm. The family will be receiving friends throughout the afternoon and evening.
Edna was born July 9, 1928, in Grand Island, NE, the daughter of Richard and Ida (Kruse) Poehler. She attended school in Hall County. Edna married Robert E. Hines on March 4, 1947 in Grand Island and they made their home in Grand Island. She worked at the Model Laundry for a while and then spent the next 35 years working as a presser for Liberty Cleaners. After retiring, she was a caregiver and housekeeper for many of the residents at the Golden Towers.
Edna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Worms, NE.
She really enjoyed being with people, and especially loved being with her family and friends. She always had a special garden with vegetables and flowers that she always shared with others. She enjoyed raising chickens and some turkeys, peacocks, and a goose.
She is survived by her husband: Robert E. Hines of Grand Island, three sons: Glenn (and wife Susan) Hines of Carpenter, SD, Ralph (and wife Sam) Walters of Omaha, and the late Bob Hines (his wife, Donna, lives at North Platte), four daughters: Gloria (Mrs. Jerry) Englehaupt of Springfield, OR, Betty (Mrs. John) Kludy of Hesperia, Michigan, Nancy Vara of Grand Island, Carol Thompson of
Omaha, NE, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three sisters: Stella (Mrs. Bud) Geiser of Omaha, Bernelda (Mrs. Ercel) Schoel of Afton, OK,
and Verona (Mrs. Toby) Burrow of Afton, OK.
Edna was preceded in death by an infant daughter Dorothy, her son Bob, and one brother, Victor Poehler.
