Leland Huber 64, of Selby, South Dakota died of natural causes on Dec 8, 1996 at the Bowdle Hospital.
Leland Huber was born Feb 15, 1932 to Adolph and Dorothea Pudwill-Huber in Herreid, South Dakota.
As a young man he started rural school near Herreid,and moved with his parents to Selby, South Dakota and attended rural school near there. Following his education he helped his parents on their farm west of Mobridge, South Dakota.
From 1952-1954 Leland was in the US Army serving in Korea. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Herried area where he worked on various farms.
He then worked several years for Delzer Construction out of Selby. In 1968 he began his career with the railroad, first with Milwaukee Railroad and later with the Burlington Northern Railroad. He lived for some time in Edgeley, North Dakota and also in Mobridge with his mother for a short time. In 1980, he moved to Selby where he lived the remainder of his life. He continued working for the railroad until March of 1996, when ill health forced him to retire.
He enjoyed collecting old cars and loved animals, especially horses. Although he never had children of his own he loved children.
