Fairmont-Thelma Margaret Peter of Fairmont, formerly of Sutton, died January 27, 2004 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont at the age of 84.
Services were held January 29, 2004 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton with the Reverend Darrell Kingswood officiating. Burial was in the Sutton Cemetery.
Music was provided by Sue Ochsner and Denise Ochsner, duet with Jeannine Fehr, accompanist.
Pallbearers were Jeff Peter, Lawrence Trautman, Eugene Ulmer, Rick Schmidt, Tom Rath and Bob Unterseher.
Thelma was born August 26, 1919 to ALfred and Frieda Griess north of Sutton, in Clay County. She attended rural school.
On March 9, 1941 she was united in marriage to Harold P. Peter at her parents' home north of Sutton. They farmed in the Grafton area until retiring. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past March.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church and the Ladies Aide. She had been a resident of the Fairview Manor for the past couple of years.
She was proceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Survivors include her husband, Harold of Fairmont; three daughters, Melva Schmidt of Lincoln, Marjorie Curtis of Lincoln and Mary Peter of Hawthorne, CA; Son Marvin peter and his wife Linda of Sutton; three sisters, Helen Nuss of Waite Park, MN, Cornelia Sandford of Tahlequah, OK and Lorene Johnson of Sutton; two brothers, Ruben Griess of Sutton and Jerald Griess of Nederland, CO; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the family. Kohler Mortuary of Sutton was in charge of arrangements.
