Gackle Cemetery Gackle, Logan County, North Dakota, USA http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=39199531 Napoleon Homestead, ND November 18, 1964 Edward Hehn, 72, Gackle Pioneer, Dies Unexpectedly Edward Hehn, 72, longtime resident of the Gackle community died unexpectedly late Friday evening, Nov. 13, at his home in Gackle. His death was attributed to a heart condition. He was born Feb. 24, 1892 in Neiburg, So. Russia, the son of Andrew Hehn and Katherine Heinrich Hehn. At the age of 14 he came with his parents to the United States in 1906, when they settled in the vicinity northeast of Gackle in Stutsman County. In 1914 he and Elizabeth Remboldt were married in Jamestown. They farmed in the Gackle and Streeter community until moving to a farm near Omemee. A short time later they returned to the Gackle and Streeter area. Following the death of his wife, he continued to live on the farm. In 1943 he and Mrs. Magdalena Fischer Stienstra were married in Aberdeen, S.D. They farmed until the fall of 1945 when they moved to Jamestown where he was employed at the North Dakota State Hospital. When he retired in 1959, they made their home in Gackle. Surviving are his wife, one son Eddie H. Hehn, Gackle, daughter, Mrs. Walter Fischer, Jamestown; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John Wetzel, Bottineau, one step son, Clifford Stienstra, Moorhead, Minn., one step daughter, Mrs. Burely Kirkolf, Kalamazoo, Mich. He was proceeded in death by his parents, one daughter, one grandson, one son, Artie M. Hehn, four brothers, and one sister. The funeral service was Nov. 17, at the Grace Baptist Church in Gackle with Rev. Bernard Edinger, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Gackle Cemetery. (Haut Funeral Home).
